What are the common causes of colds and flu?

There are over 100 types of virus that can cause the common cold. They are constantly mutating, making the search for a "cure" even more difficult. Cold and flu viruses are mainly spread by coughing and sneezing.

What is the difference between a cold and a flu?

The most common symptoms of a cold are a runny nose, sore throat, sneezing and coughing. These symptoms are also present in influenza, however they are overshadowed by headache, fever, aches and pains in muscles and shivering. Onset of symptoms is usually more abrupt with flu.

How long will a cold last?

The common cold generally lasts 7 to 14 days.
