  Allergy Shots More Tips

Immunotherapy uses allergy shots to desensitise the body's reaction to allergens. The process is always carried out under the supervision of your doctor or specialist, and involves a series of injections where the amount of allergy-causing substance is gradually increased.

It can take a long time before any improvement is seen and Immunotherapy doesn't work for everyone.1 Furthermore, a patient might experience an allergic reaction while undergoing treatment.

Who is suited to immunotherapy?
Allergy shots might be recommended when a patient has a potentially life threatening allergy to stinging insects for example, in cases of severe allergy when allergens are difficult to avoid or when drug treatment has proven ineffective.
