Q. Where is the dropper on the 20mL product and how does it work?
A. The dropper is inside the neck of the bottle, after removing the lid, just hold the bottle upside down and the product will come out one drop at a time.

Q. Do any of the Zyrtec® products contain penicillin?
A. No.
Q. Do any of the Zyrtec products contain artificial colours?
A. No.
Q. Do Zyrtec tablets contain lactose?
A. Yes. However, Zyrtec Fastmelts are lactose-free.
Q. Do Zyrtec tablets contain wheat or gluten?
A. No. The tablets can therefore be taken by people with coeliac disease.
Q. Do Zyrtec tablets contain aspirin or sodium lauryl sulphate?
A. No.
Dosing
Q. At what time of the day should I take the product?
A. Zyrtec can be taken at any time of the day or night, with or without food.
Q. Do I need to take the whole pack?
A. No. Zyrtec is for the relief of symptoms, and should only be used when required.
Q. Can I take Zyrtec before I experience my allergy symptoms?
A Yes. When you suspect that you are about to experience your allergy symptoms (e.g. you are planning to mow the lawn or visit someone who owns a cat) then taking an antihistamine before exposure to the allergen is the best way of using the product. This is far more effective than taking the product once your symptoms have occurred.
Q. Why do children take the product twice per day?
A. Cetirizine is metabolised faster in young children than in adults.
Q. Is it okay to recommend half a tablet for children 6 years and over?
A. Yes. Children of six years and over can be given 5mg twice a day. Zyrtec tablets are scored so that they can be broken in half (to form two 5mg portions). Caution - Zyrtec Fastmelts should not be given to children under 12 years.
Effectiveness
Q. How soon should Zyrtec work?
A. You should notice an improvement in your symptoms within an hour.
Interactions
Q. Does Zyrtec interact with other medications?
A. If you are taking any other medication, speak with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Zyrtec.
Q. Will Zyrtec affect a blood alcohol reading?
A. No.
Precautions
Q. I am an epileptic and taking certain medication for my condition. Is it OK to use Zyrtec?
A. Firstly there is a general precaution against the use of antihistamines by people with epilepsy. Secondly, a lot of epileptic medications can cause drowsiness and this drowsiness may add to any drowsiness caused by Zyrtec. In either case, you should speak with your doctor or pharmacist before using Zyrtec.
Q. Is it OK to give Zyrtec to a child who has hayfever & also asthma?
A. There is a general precaution against the use of antihistamines by people with Asthma. You should speak with your doctor or pharmacist before using Zyrtec.
Q. Can mothers use Zyrtec while they are breastfeeding?
A. If you are breastfeeding then you should speak with your doctor or pharmacist before using Zyrtec.
Q. Can I use Zyrtec if I am pregnant?
A. If you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, then you should speak with your doctor or pharmacist before using Zyrtec.
Q. What are the side effects of Zyrtec?
A. All medications can have side effects. Sometimes they are serious, most of the time they are not. You should ask your doctor or pharmacist to answer any questions you may have in relation to side effects.
